Moments - Restaurant

The table on everyone’s lips..

Follow the B: We recommend this place

Moments - Barcelona

In the brand new and beautiful Mandarin Oriental Hotel, the table on everyone’s lips is with no doubt: Moments.
The Chef Carme Ruscalleda and her son Raül Balam are revisiting Catalan recipes and even inventing the first anti-aging menu of Barcelona..
On the Catalan side of the menu you will discover totally renewed classical dishes like Arroz caldoso de gamba con picada de pescador (rice dish with broth) -  Fricandó (veal stew) and suquet (fish stew) - Shrimp Tartar- Seabass with fig chutney and hibiscus salt - Veal Cheeks with turnip vegetable ravioli and red fruits..

A delight and lot of imagination!!
But even more visionary and trendy: a “anti-aging” menu where the food chosen by Carme Ruscalleda and Dr. Manuel Sanchez - head of the Anti-aging Unit Clinic Planas- , specialist in the anti-age treatments, conceal only the most miraculous properties to preserve an “iron constitution”.
In this menu, mini pizza pies with artichokes and the Joselito ham, or macaroni with buckwheat accompanied by scallops and vegetables… a great idea!

A very chic venue already awarded by 2 Michelin Stars in 2013.

Address : Passeig de Gràcia, 38-40

Can Pineda - Restaurant

Classic amongst classics..

Follow the B: We recommend this place

Can Pineda - Barcelona

Can Pineda exists since 1904. If you want to discover the Catalan traditional cuisine in all its perfection, it will be necessary to leave a little the downtown area. But this will quickly be forgotten!

Attended by regulars and by the finest gourmets of the city, Can Pineda has only one rule: to offer best products of the season, if possible from proximity with however few exemptions which you will understand easily: the foie gras comes from France, the white truffle from Alba, the pata negra from Jabugo
Once this said, what's left  is a festival of typical receipts to feel giddy: "huevos poché con foie y trufa, arroz con sepia, setas y bogavante, anchoas de Getaria, albóndigas con sepia, gambas, chuletón o entrecot de buey, estofado de rabo de buey con cigalas…".

An extraordinary high level restaurant which proposes also a tasting menu at 35€ (without the wine)..
It is expensive but the pleasure inevitably up to the mark!

Address : Carrer de Sant Joan de Malta, 55
Opening hours : Tuesday to saturday from 1pm to 4 pm and from 9pm to 11pm // Closed on sunday and monday.
Phone : +34 933 08 30 81
Metro/Bus : Clot, Glories,

Bambarol - Restaurant

Chef’s tapas !

Follow the B: We recommend this place

Bambarol - Barcelona

Imagine two chefs, with professional records as long as their arms, to open a restaurant of tapas where one would like to come every day: It’s Bambarol.

Cirera and Firpo worked at best places like : Saüc, Bulli, Can Roca, Moo... For finally returning to their roots: a Mediterranean, Catalan and gastronomical cuisine as their mothers and grandmothers would have done it. But a cuisine revisited by 15 years of technique and voyages.

At the menu, cold or hot tapas of which we retain with emotion this day: a salmon marinated, the rice of the day, a fish ragout, a pot of lamb or an extraordinary sirloin. The carte changes according to the seasons and the products. Benefit from the 25€ menu which is dazzling.

It is far from the center, the gourmets will have to make an effort…

Address : C/ Santaló, 21
Opening hours : Tuesday to Saturday from 13.30 to 23.00

4amb5 Mujades - Restaurant

The "wow factor" of the moment

Follow the B: We recommend this place

4amb5 Mujades  - Barcelona

For foody in love with textures, colors and flavors, 4amb5 Mujades is the new restaurant to discover in Barcelona.

If we have not understood the meaning of the name of this restaurant - 4amb5 - that would be a reference to a unit of measurement of agricultural land. We have however immediately understood the spirit of the place: a tribute to the world of plants and vegetables, where animal protein if not forgotten is only a condiment. Known concept but wonderfully expressed by the young chefs Toni Romero and Quim Coll. Like at Céleri, vegetables are the stars of the dishes and each dish is a journey thru the forgotten tastes or the one to rediscover. The expertise there is amazing of dexterity and invention at the image of this dish: Eggplant Yakitori grilled with sesame seeds, sesame oil, soy reduction, onion rings and cilantro flowers (11 €).
We can only advise you, the gastronomic menu to go around 9 or 11 vegetable dishes, classified by group: roots, flowers, leaves and fruits. A menu which changes - like the seasons - 4 times a year. This is totally organic and is not overly expensive for such an experience: count thirty euros.

One leaves delighted after an incredible experience for both eyes - beautiful decoration of the room, made of genuine planting vegetables and herbs - and the palate.

Address : Rambla de Raval 45
Opening hours : Wednesday, to Mondays from 13:00h to 16:00h and from 20:00h to 23:30h.

N° 5

Rice by Sanchez Romera - Restaurant

The fusion of the senses

Rice by Sánchez Romera - Barcelona

2021: Rice is definitely closed

To the question: "Why do you buy rice and flowers?" Confucius, a long time ago, replied: “you’re asking why I buy rice and flowers? I buy rice to live and flowers to have something to live for”.  This metaphor, charged with wisdom and foresight, which has become a kind of rule of life and work for Sanchez Romera in his new restaurant "Rice".

Sanchez Romera was a doctor before becoming a cook. His former specialty: neurology. 20 years after his change of vocation, medicine remains at the heart of his new profession, seeing his cooking as a link between science, health and art. Neuroscience now helps him to implement a culinary experience where emotions, memory and the pleasure of food are expertly orchestrated.

If all this sounds complex, the result is much easier to see and enjoy. In a setting close to a contemporary art gallery made of white walls and works or photos very colorful as bouquets of flowers. At table a succession of small dishes plays on colors and juxtapositions of flavors inspired by Mediterranean and Asian cuisine.

It's beautiful, fine and subtle like these "Barcelona rolls" - a kind of rice uramaki of all colors, scented with cuttlefish ink, curry or turmeric. Like this black rice with kombu butter, curry shrimps, garlic cuttlefish and parsley. Or as with this cockerel simmered in soy sauce and vegetables.

When we tell you that the evening menu is proposed for the sum of 45 or 35 euros depending on the number of dishes, you’ll understand that this restaurant wants to stay in a very affordable price range.

This "doctor-chef" is well-known beyond his walls, known for his books, lectures and various interventions around the world, his new restaurant is to live as a totally unique experience.

Address : Carrer de Muntaner, 182
Opening hours : From monday to saturday from 1:15pm to 4pm and from 8:30pm to 11pm
Phone : +34 931 426 709

Can Vallès - Restaurant

Follow the B: We recommend this place

Can Vallès - Barcelona

As you are walking down Aragó street, next to Rocafort, suddenly you find a restaurant called Can Vallès.

One might think that he has bumped into another Barcelona's bar, and here comes the big mistake. This restaurant with, at first gland, simple appearance, has a lot to show us.

The quality, detail and care of the dishes is equivalent to the outstanding restaurants in the city. Recipes made with the best products on the market.

Some dishes: chickpeas with lobster, pork feet cannelloni, fresh seafood, meat served on a hot stone, fresh salads and some very nice tapas!

The desserts...? Try the cheesecake or chocolate cake with cinnamon ice cream.

And.. the best wines selection!

Do not forget to book in advance as this is a small but very popular place .

Dos Palillos - Restaurant

Follow the B: We recommend this place

Dos Palillos - Barcelona

Dos Palillos or when traditional spanish tapas get inspired by delicate savors of Asia…

Albert Raurich has been working at El Bulli from 1997 to 2007 where he was head chief for the last 6 years of his journey with Ferran Adrià … That is to say that he knows quite well about cuisine inspiration and innovation…

At Dos Palillos the chef decided to get his inspiration from the far east cuisine, that is mostly from Japan, China, Thailand and Vietnam. And what an inspiration!!

Imagine Asian savors married with Spanish traditional tapas and products like seafoods, fish, fresh vegetables of the market, prown, tuna, meat…

Imagine now tempura, raw dishes, woked dishes, steamed dishes, grilled dishes..

Albert Raurich’s tapas are pure creativity and grace..

We loved fresh seaweed sunomono with molluscs, Japanese burger, meat Gyoza,Cantonese style Iberian pork, prawn steamed dumpling..

Two degustation menus at 55 and 75€ but they prefer to say one hour and half menu or two hours menu..

Lunchtime menu at 20€
In november 2012 Dos Palillos recieved its first Michelin star.

N° 9

Vivant - Restaurant

Best in Sant Joan..

Vivant - Barcelona

Catalan and Mediterranean cuisine brought up to date. It is at Vivant and this is one of our favorite places.

In the district of Sant Joan, everyday more welcoming: Libertine, Granja Petitbo, El Viti Taberna, Chicha Limonà.. Vivant is the local reference that is worth to cross the city.
Beautiful decor, sober and Nordic fashion 50s style, where Chef takes fun revisiting a Spanish and Catalan cuisine with flair. Twice a year a new carte, always with tapas to share, entrees and dishes to satisfy everyone at every hour. Unmissable are the Patatas Braves (€ 4.5) we immediately place in a top 5 in Barcelona for the two sauces that accompany them. Also remarkable the Calamari & Boutifarra (9.5 €), the Ortiguilles de mar - sea anemones - (€ 8.75), the tataki of tuna(€ 11.2), the Bacallà Confitat (9.5 €). Each receipes enhanced by a sauce or a perfect combination of flavors.

You understood the prices are very reasonable given the quality of products and the modernity of the cuisine.
Lunch menu 12.90 €.. Hard to beat!

Bar Alegría - Restaurant

Tapas in one of the oldest bars in the city

Bar Alegría - Barcelona

When Thomas Abellan took over the Bar Alegría, he had on his shoulders the weight of more than 120 years of tradition, quality, and good spirits.

Good mood because, as its name indicates, the Bar Alegría became a meeting place and a place of socialization for a heterogeneous group of people from Barcelona since its opening in 1899. With the help of his father Carlos Abellan, one of the great Catalan chefs of the generation of Sergi Arola, José Andrés, and Ferran Adrià, they have kept the modernist charm of the place while modernizing its gastronomic offer. The menu now includes classic tapas and seasonal dishes. We loved the tortilla with truffles and we let you discover "El bikini de mi padre".

A nice list of natural wines.

It is absolutely necessary to book (link on their site) especially in this period of a pandemic.

Address : Comte Borrell, 133
Opening hours : Monday to Sunday from 12 to 17

  7. Can Pineda for sure! - #{[ (1 Jan 2017 - 12:16)

Can Pineda is the best place for us in Barcelona. Far from city centre but only minutes by cab.. really worth it if you want to discover the real catalan foods.

  8. Wonderful place! - Randall (20 Nov 2015 - 09:48)

Last september I travelled to Barcelona with my friends, amazing place. It was a special moment, we finished our university careers so we decided have a lunch on a special restaurant. We found Santa Eulalia Champagne Bar. All meals were delicious and spectacular. We recommend it!

  9. Louis Roederer at Santa Eulalia Champagne Bar - Alison (17 Nov 2015 - 09:22)

Really surprised. A friend of mine showed me a new place called Champagne Bar. He asked for a “Champagne al estilo Santa Eulalia” that included different sweets and a Louis Roederer Brut Premier Champagne glass. I really appreciate it and I sure i´ll repeat.

  10. Rating Arola restaurant - Hotel guest (6 Jul 2015 - 08:38)

Reason we went it was rated #2 and we were staying at the Art Hotel we were highly disappointed, food came out at a different times, part of the order was forgotten drinks were lousy and server spilled as they were served presentation was ok but we expected much better quality service and food for the rating and price.

  11. Yubari Restaurant should be here! - Kim (30 Jun 2015 - 11:14)

I think this list is not real. Why is not Yubari Restaurant? Is the best restaurant in Barcelona, said for famous people like Leo Messi!

Please.. include the Japanese Restaurant for a great and real list.

  12. YUBARI - Kate (2 Jun 2015 - 06:12)

Yubari is the best place for eating newstyle japanese food in Barcelona!!! It´s really great!!

  13. the restaurant with view on the sea - Simona (15 May 2015 - 11:10)

Please give me advice. I´m looking for the some restaurant in Barcelona with the view on the see

  14. passadis - navarro (7 Jan 2015 - 10:00)

Wow, this list must be completely unreliable. Passadis del Pep is very overpriced for the cheapest food imaginable. They are worse than the thousand position on tripadvisor.

  15. La Boqueria is the best place ever :) - chef in La Boqueria (9 Dec 2014 - 09:30)

I love La Boqueria! Can't wait to go back in Barcelona this holiday season. :)

  17. Eat in las Ramblas - Peter (8 Oct 2014 - 10:00)

  18. Adrian - Raul (18 Aug 2014 - 12:15)

    Calm down Adrian.

  19. Restaurants - Adrian (4 Aug 2014 - 09:45)

I really get tired of all these stupid English writing senseless comments. You don't recommend pizza or canneloni when writing about spanish cuisine stupid! Not once was the wine list mentioned so a clear indication mlst of you don't know what the hell they are talking about. Dos Pallilos came up on a couple of other sites as well as some other restaurants not mentioned once by our "connaisseurs".
Uk I love you but stick to sports, cider ande beer and don't fool yourself about knowledge of food. Not as long as you still get a steak ordered rare on your plate and it's well done!

  22. any idea? - sam (27 May 2014 - 09:45)

heard about La Esquinica tapas bar? Any comments? thank you

  23. looks good - sally (12 May 2014 - 10:30)

Good listing. Will try most as I can.

  24. Best restaurant in Barcelona - Robert Ricci (5 Feb 2014 - 09:45)

I've been to lots and lots of restaurants but seriously nothing comes close to this one, quality and service and unique traditional cuisine with open kitchen. Loved it and one of my highlights of Barcelona.

  25. Expensive but well worth emptying your pockets - Pere Chias C (20 Jan 2014 - 16:37)

If you are a complete foodie and you're in BCN you should definitely try out the next restaurants though I have to admit they are expensive but they're worth the effort: Sense presa, La fonda del gaig, paco meralgo, fermin piug, coure, bravo. Except for Paco Meralgo, these are not tapa restaurants but you'll cry with delight when you taste their food, all of those restaurants have an excellent service, high cleanliness and the food is purely sinful, it's so delicious.

For something more economical but also nice and very in fashion amongst tourists there is La Cerveceria Catalana.

    Cheers hope you enjoy ;)

  26. Good restaurants in Barcelona - Inger Norås, Stavanger, Norway (16 Dec 2013 - 10:15)

A hidden gem in Barcelona is "Meson Jesus" in Barri Gotic. This is not a fancy, expencive restaurant, but a cozy, kind of "homefeeling" place, a family-run place which have very good food and fantastic atmosphere. "Meson David" in El Raval is also a restaurant I would recommend, cheap and very nice food. The tapas bar "La Plata" is also an amazing little place with the best sardines I have ever tasted! I have also been to "Los Caracoles" (I see many people recommend this restaurant), but I was not very satisfied with the food, but this was in 2007, and since I will soon go to Barcelona again, maybe I should give it another try.

  27. I love this city! - Mike (2 Dec 2013 - 08:45)

Wow, I was last week in Barcelona and I loved the restaurants of this city, specially Divinus restaurant! )

  28. Love food - foody (19 Nov 2013 - 12:30)

love food and was suprised by the quality of the restaurants in Barcelona as well as the quality of the hotels. Great city for vacations. Of course Dos Palillos was my first stop. Great food, nice table and very nice people. A true must!

  29. went to Can Vallès .. great - vincent (18 Nov 2013 - 14:30)

Can Vallès is really the perfect and true catalan restaurant.. only market and quality food. A pleasure.

  30. Great Restaurant - Brian Macias (10 Oct 2013 - 09:00)

I HIGHLY recommend Ciudad Condal/Ciutat Condad just up the way from La Rambla! Yeah we had to wait to get a table, but the service and the food was outstanding! I went there with students in March 2012 and took my wife in June 2013. We loved it!!!

  31. cHILD FRIENDLY RESTRURANTS in Barcelona - Albet (2 Oct 2013 - 09:15)

We are going to be in Barcelona from Oct 9th through the 12th, with our children and 3 grandchildren, ages 3,5 and 7. Please recommend a family friendly resterurant

  32. authentic rice dishes - yasho (30 Sep 2013 - 09:00)

If what you are looking for is an authentic rice dish (paella variations), home-made (and made on the spot and from scratch), different every day of the week, go to La Barraqueta, Tordera Street 28 in Gràcia. The price? 7,5 euros per person. Seeing is believing. While you are at it you'd well asking for a couple of tapas (or starters) while you wait, such as grilled calamari or a lovely mushroom sauté. Plenty of good, resonable wines to choose from. Lovely square and surroundings even if the restaurant itself is not at all pretentious.

  33. Advise - gerard (3 Sep 2013 - 09:00)

You must go to La Viblia Wine Restaurant & Showroom. They've got a beautiful terrace in a very special place!! It is located in the W Hotel but in the viewpoint side!! try the tapas and the paella! They are so nice! and their cocktails!

It's one of my fav places in the city.

  34. Any advice - Dune (19 Aug 2013 - 10:00)

I will be in Barcelona on the 30th-1st of Aug. I'm looking for a good local cusine restaurant that is not over-priced. Somewhere locals go.

  35. Best Restaurant - Lexie (9 Jul 2013 - 09:15)

One of the best is L'Oliana Restaurant, we went there to have dinner and ended up going back for lunch the very last day, the best Cannelloni and Cod fritters I've ever tried.

  36. Mediterranian food - Clarince (3 Jul 2013 - 06:45)

Barcelona is one of the best cities in the world, my passion is travelling around the world, that's my hobby, and I want to say that the restaurants are pretty cool, I was in Divinus with a really good Price, and I went to diner at Tenorio, both ones differents but so good.

  37. Italian good food in Barcelona - Raphael (7 Jun 2013 - 09:45)

I use to go at Bimbas restaurant, is one of the best I tried in Barcelona and have an excelent client service. I was really surprised, and in addition has a beautiful cocktel area. :)

  38. WOW Trobador Rambla! - Charles (24 May 2013 - 10:15)

Hi, I was with mi wife in Barcelona last week and we decided to go to Parc Güell.

After this, we went to Catalunya Square and web ate at Trobador Restaurant, a really good place to go.

We get so fun on this Trip, Barcelona is beautiful.

  39. Tenorio in the TOP10 - Richard (8 May 2013 - 08:30)

I live in Barcelona for 10 years, and one of the best restaurants I've been is Tenorio, the service, food and place are really cool, sure that has to be on the list !

  40. La Tramoia Restaurant - Chris (11 Apr 2013 - 07:15)

We went to Barcelona for Easter Holidays and we found La Tramoia in Rambla Catalunya. The food is really good and you can chose to eat brasserie or tapas. It has a terrace and the local it's really cool! All my family really enjoyed the restaurant and we recommend it.

  41. Somosrrostro in Barcelonneta - Judy Kugle (25 Mar 2013 - 08:15)

Go as many times as you can. Of all the places to eat in Barcelona (I spent 5 weeks there). It remains my favorite food memory. Both Boqueria ans Santa Caterina markets should not be missed.

  42. Restaurante Quixote - manuel (7 Mar 2013 - 18:30)
