Manairó
A very personal cuisine
Restaurant Manairó is close to La Monumental of Barcelona. In it, the first thing that will surprise us is its reception. A first glance that already indicates that Jordi Herrera, its owner and Chef is not very conventional. Unique iron sculptures decorate the premises, with a sober and calm atmosphere and a dim light that helps to relax.
Because at Manairó, we recommend to come with an open mind, wanting to enjoy and taste something different. The service is attentive and friendly. It is not a restaurant with many tables, so we will easily feel like the only clients of the restaurant.
It is highly recommended when going to Manairó to get carried away and order the degustation menu. A dynamic menu that changes dishes depending on the availability of products, either by the season or by the market. Being loyal to his personality, Jordi Herrera tries with his elaborations to surprise anyone who sits at his table. He will do it in every possible way, playing with textures, cooking, ingredients and presentations.
As a great connoisseur of traditional Catalan cuisine, some of its dishes are typical of the country's culinary culture, although they are not as popular as others. It is the example of "Truita amb Suc" or "La Cotxa". That said, after passing through the hands of Jordi, even the most accustomed to eating them may discover something new. For this transformation they use gadgets that they have invented for cooking and serving.
For example, they are famous in Barcelona for their plancha fakir, for the meat, a steam probe to cook the food from the inside out or a centrifuge to caramelize the meat. His restlessness has led him to seek what helps to better taste the product and has improved the cooking technique so that the quality of each meat or each fish is lost as little as possible.
Everything tastes as it should, recovering the essence of each food and the dressings with which it has been cooked. Dishes such as "Roba Estesa" (tented clothes), a smoked tuna served with Cap i Pota chips is, in itself, an unusual combination, or "xof de pa amb tomàquet". If we add the original staging, we will know that a different experience is awaiting for us.
In their degustation menu will be offered many more dishes, one more imaginative than the last. At Restaurante Manairó, daily life becomes something unique. We advise you to visit it with time and with a great desire to live a few hours in a relaxed way in which to rejoice of the most classic Catalan cuisine. We can assure that it will be engraved in your memory forever.
